Durante su estadía en La Guajira, la Alta Comisionada Adjunta del  ACNUR Kelly Clements y la enviada especial de la Agencia de la ONU para los Refugiados, Angelina Jolie, visitaron el asentamiento Brisas del Norte, donde vive un gran número de migrantes venezolanos. Allí dialogaron con algunos de ellos, así como con retornados colombianos que viven en esta zona del distrito de Riohacha.
